What an amazing day out!
Our cruise around Maria Island was just splendid. The weather was perfect, it made cruising around the island much more pleasant. We saw lots of interesting rock formations, spent some time in a cave and saw the famous Fossil Cliffs. Our skipper Mike was very passionate and passed on his knowledge of the coastline, he made learning about Geology exciting. Our lunch was on board the boat in a lovely peaceful calm bay, and was prepared by Meg, it was a fabulous meal.
When we landed on Maria Island, we had over an hour with Meg who showed us all the wildlife that inhabit the island (loved the blonde wombats) and the old buildings from a lifetime ago. We also saw pademelons, wallabies, kangaroos and Cape Barren Geese in their natural habitat.
Overall we had a fabulous time and highly recommend this tour! Thanks Mike & Meg
The trip was a lovely way to spend Mother's Day

Fantastic Day Tour
My Husband and myself were lucky enough to do this tour last Friday. We arrived at Triabunna to be greeted by a lovely young lady Meg. Once we boarded the boat we were so pleased to have Michael talk to us about Beautiful Maria Island and it's history. The day was filled with information and the food that was served was amazing. We could not have asked for a better day. The wombats were out in full force on Maria and the weather was fantastic. Needless to say I would recommend this tour to anyone visiting Tasmania. It is a must. Something you will never forget. Thank you again to Michael, Meg and Bec for your hospitality. Sarah & Rod

Amazing Easter Friday day cruise
We did the full day cruise that included Ile Des Phoques as well as lunch off and a walking tour on Maria Island. The whole experience was simply amazing: dolphins, seals, birds, sea caves, wombats, turbo chooks and pademelon wallabies accompanied by a hugely informative and engaging commentary with great viewpoints (there are no bad viewing spots on the boat!). Staff were so helpful and friendly, and are genuinely passionate about the area, wildlife and environment; lunch was lovely. Can't fault at all.

Explore, enjoy, dance, witness, experience AWESOMENESS
A tour for every age! My friend and I were the only two "youngsters" on the boat but everybody enjoyed being there and experiencing what we were able to see. Even if we didn't talk with the most, somehow I felt connected to everybody and I think that comes from Michael's (the tour guide and boat driver) and Meg's (his assistant) awesome way of treating the group, each and everyone, kindly. I even had the pleasure to dance on the boat with some electronic music as the others were visiting the island and had a walk. It was great fun!! (Thx for that buddy!). If you book this tour, you can experience adventure, excitement, enjoyment, admiration and a lot of knowledge about the history of Maria Island from your tour guides! I'd recommend to have no expectations and to leave your handy and other disruptive factors beside. If you really want to enjoy it, enjoy this tour with your eyes and heart - because otherwise you may miss the obvious miracles you get to see!

Best day in Tassie
This was excellent and has something for everyone. Firstly Mike and Tim are so friendly and passionate about Maria Island you can't help but have a great time.
If you like wildlife you get to see the seals, wombats and kangaroos. If you like to see something spectacular you get to see the caves, if you like history you get to see Darlington convict settlement. If you like food you get a great lunch made from local produce. If you like activity you can go for a walk and a swim.
Keeping teenagers happy is always a tough gig but my two loved this tour and I would highly recommend it.

Worth every penny
I cannot express enough how great this tour was. Apart from the magnificent views, the awesome caves, incredible up and close interaction with the seal. The only thing better was the attention of the staff. Steve's knowledge on the history of the island and caves was fascinating and his skills as a Captain were stellar. Now Megs turn, she was a wonderful hostess.

One of the best days you'll have in Tasmania.
We have just completed 3 wonderful weeks holidaying in Tasmania. We did not have a bad day in all that time. The circumnavigation of Maria Island onboard 'The Spirit of Maria' was, without doubt, one of the best days we had.
We managed to see common dolphins, seals, a humpback whale, kangaroos, pademelons, wombats, Cape Barren Geese, Wedge tailed eagles, albatrosses and other sea birds. The landscape and geology of the island is fascinating. we all took dozens and dozens of photo's.
Mike is a fantastic skipper, extremely knowledgable and passionate about the environment, the island's history and its inhabitants. He is very approachable and is conscious of each passengers safety, comfort and tour experience. Similarly Meg was very friendly and personable and spent her day making sure every passenger enjoyed their day. Lunch was an enjoyable onboard experience.
Mike and Meg made sure all guests felt welcomed making a point to learn each of the passenger's names. With only 24 passengers on board there were vantage points for all.
Our kids, aged 14 and 13, agree that this was an experience not to be missed. We picked up the tour at Triabunna. We will certainly do this again when we return to Tasmania.
Thanks to East Coast Cruises and especially to Mike and Meg.

Pre Christmas treat
We came on a cruise around Maria Island on 22 December. It was a great day and a great cruise. This had been a cruise that we had wanted to do for some time and we were not disappointed. The far side of the island is spectacularly beautiful. Beautiful rock formations, great commentary. Very friendly and helpful crew who obviously loved their job and this island. Thanks for the lovely lunch and morning and afternoon teas - we did get hungry out there in all that fresh air. The dolphins were beautiful and was a real treat to have them with us for so long. We hope in the not too distant future to be able to join you on a trip to the Ile Des Phoques. Lastly but not the least - it was a really good idea to get the shuttle bus from Hobart to Triabunna - much better than us driving and rushing. Thanks for everything, S and A

What an incredible day! It went beyond my expectations and was probably the best cruise I ever had with great guides and numerous sites that I easily qualify as breathtaking. 300% recommended.

Fantastic day with great scenery, adventure and company
With 3 boys aged 7 - 12 the Maria Island day cruise was a highlight of our trip through Tasmania.
Both the Captain and Deck Hand were most welcoming and professional remembering everyone’s names. They were most happy to chat with us and our cheeky kids in between providing expert commentary on the landform, marine life / wildlife, and Maria Island’s amazing history.
The sea cave which we carefully entered was most exciting while the scenery of Maria Island is stunning. We circumnavigated it’s coastline before stopping for a sumptuous lunch on board, then docked to take a tour of the historic buildings and grounds.
A swim next to the jetty before returning capped off an awesome day.
Thanks for a great family experience ECC - 5/5.

Perfect day out
If you are debating booking this cruise don’t bother just do it! We had a fabulous day out with Mike as skipper and Megan as deckhand. They were both super knowledgeable as well as fun and kind. Mike knows the island inside out and his commentary of the geology of the island was really interesting. The shuttle bus drivers were great as well but sorry can’t remember their names. The cruise itself was comfortable and fun with breathtaking views. Lunch was yummy and drinks were easily available. You can sit down below or on the top deck. will chose the topdeck to enjoy the sunshine and views to the fullest and it was awesome! A bit windy and cool at times but that’s to be expected. We did the circumnavigation cruise, aside from the stunning island itself with caves, rock formations and white sand beaches we got to see lots of wildlife like a pod of dolphins, some lazy seals, a wedge tailed eagle and possibly a baby whale... a little to fast of an appearance to know for sure! Once we got to the island we had a few hours to explore and although the convict history of the island and old ruins were very interesting and the scenery stunning my absolute favourite we seeing a waddling wombat up close and personal. Overall a great day, couldn’t have asked for better, worth every dollar.
